WCS Receives Second Consecutive ‘A Grade’
Schools throughout Indiana recently received their individual grades on Dec. 20, however corporation-wide grades were not released until today. The grades were made public after this morning’s vote by the Indiana State Board of Education. Corporation grades were determined after individual school grades were determined during December’s meeting of the State Board of Education.
“The school corporation is very pleased with the grade the state board of education has given to us,” stated WCS Superintendent Dr. Craig Hintz. “I’m very appreciative of all of the hard work of our students, parents, teachers, administrators and staff to achieve this very fine rating for Warsaw Community Schools.”
According to the Indiana Department of Education, Warsaw Community School Corporation received an A Accountability Grade for the second year in a row. Last year, the corporation received a perfect 4.0 grade from the IDOE with each school within the district receiving and individual A grade. This year received a slight decline in scores, reporting a score of 3.74. The corporation received a total of seven A grades and four B grades.
Schools that fell slightly to the B letter grade were Lakeview Middle School, Edgewood Middle School, Madison Elementary School and Harrison Elementary.
When asked what the corporation plans to do to continue it’s trend of receiving A grades from the IDOE, Hintz replied, “Certainly were just delighted that our staff is so committed to our mission and certainly I believe our staff expects an A grade and will keep working collaboratively together to continue to sustain the A and improve learning opportunities for all of our students.”
Wawasee received a C grade from the state for the second year in a row. The corporation received a 2.32 grade this year which was down slightly from last year’s 2.57 grade. Tippecanoe Valley Schools also noted a decline in scores. Though the district received it’s second consecutive C grade, scores feel from 2.9 to 2.25.
Whitko Community School Corporation noted significant growth from last year’s D grade. This year, the school received a B grade from the state. Whitko’s scores moved from 1.96 to 3.31.
