Vikings Rout Rival Rochester
AKRON – Tanner Andrews capped off a big week with a big performance Friday night.
The Tippecanoe Valley three-sport star paced the Vikings past rival Rochester 65-36 in a Three Rivers Conference clash.
Andrews, who earlier this week made a verbal commitment to play baseball at Purdue, had his second straight huge game on the hardwood for coach Bill Patrick’s squad.
Andrews tossed in a game-high 21 points as the Vikings rolled to the dominating win. The 6-3 senior forward had 24 points in a TRC win at Northfield on Tuesday night.
Valley rolled to a 19-3 lead after the opening period Friday night en route to routing the Zebras. The hosts led 35-15 at intermission of the conference clash.
Chainey Zolman netted 15 points for Valley, which improved to 8-2 overall and 3-0 in the TRC with its fourth straight win.
Senior Ben Shriver had a strong game with 12 points and Logan Britton added eight for the Vikings.
It was the second win over the Zebras for the Vikings. Valley beat Rochester 45-41 in the consolation game of the Winning Edge Holiday Tournament on Jan. 4.
Luke Cannedy led Rochester with nine points. The Zebras drop tp 3-6 overall and 1-1 in the TRC.
Valley hosts Peru and Rochester entertains Caston Tuesday night.
