Jealousy Was Behind Stabbing Incident
A crime of passion has a Warsaw man in jail without bond after police say he stabbed a man involved with his ex-girlfriend.
Warsaw Police officers were called to Kosciusko Community Hospital Monday afternoon where they reported a stabbing victim had come in for treatment. At about 1:25 p.m., officers spoke with the male victim who suffered razor blade cuts to his face and head.
The investigation found that Donaldo Velasquez, 24, of Warsaw, observed his ex-girlfriend with her new boyfriend parked at 715 E. Winona Ave., and he stopped to confront them. The female was between Velasquez and her boyfriend when Velasquez reached in the pickup truck and cut the victim with a razor blade on the right side of his face and head.
Velasquez immediately fled the scene and the woman drove her boyfriend to KCH for treatment.
An attempt to locate was put out for Velasquez and police from several agencies were searching for him. Nappanee Police located the vehicle and the suspect and he was taken into custody.
Velasquez was transported back to Warsaw and admitted his involvement in an interview with police. He was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on a Class B felony charge of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon and is being held on a prosecutor’s hold with no bond.
The victim, a 29-year-old Warsaw man, was treated at KCH with non-life-threatening injuries.
