George Mann
George Mann, 90, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 8:40 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, in Warsaw Meadows, Warsaw.
He was born Dec. 10, 1923, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to George and Louise (Aubrey) Mann. On July 1, 1955, in Indianapolis, Ind., he married Isadora O. Rosbrugh. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2012.
He lived in Fort Wayne, Ind., then moved to Indianapolis and finally to Warsaw in 1976.
George joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 serving during WWII receiving the rank of an Aviation Electronic Technician’s Mate First Mate. During his service time he also helped develop “Radar” when it was Top Secret. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
He was an author, high school electronics teacher, he also owned George’s Electronic Repair Shop when it was located in downtown Warsaw.
He was a member of the VFW Post #1126, Elks Lodge #802 and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #49 all of Warsaw.
George enjoyed repairing electronics. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
George is survived by his daughter: Karla Fae Mann, Warsaw; a son: George O. Mann, Warsaw; three grandchildren: Matthew and Danielle Foreman and Jeremiah Mann.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother.
There will be a celebration of life held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the American Legion Post #49, Warsaw. No calling is planned. Burial will be at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with Military Honors.
