PolyOne Begins Local Closing Procedure
PolyOne Corp. has begun terminating employees today under its plan to close the Warsaw plant at 3454 N. Detroit St.
In a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act letter sent to the Department of Workforce Development last July, the Avon Lake, Ohio-based company announced its plan to close the local plant and lay off 110 workers. The layoffs were to begin this month and the shut down is to be completed by Sept. 30.
Workers at the plant are represented by the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union Local 905.
The company, which makes specialized polymer materials, is closing a total of six of its North American plants by the end of this year. The closures will result in pre-tax savings of $25 million next year.
