Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Sunday, Feb. 2, 9:24 p.m. SR 15 near West 350 South, Warsaw. Driver: Martha J. Music, 54, 1300 North, Silver Lake. Music lost control of her vehicle on snow-covered road and slid off the roadway. Damages: up to $5,000
Sunday, Feb. 2, 5:23 p.m. East 750 North near North 1000 East, Cromwell. Driver: Dustin J. Cloud, 24, 1300 North, Milford. Cloud slid on icy road, left the roadway and collided with a tree. Damages: up to $2,500
Sunday, Feb. 2, 1:21 p.m. SR 15 near West 300 South, Warsaw. Driver: Austin S. Woods, 16, Patterson Road, Warsaw. Woods lost control of his vehicle and struck a ditch, causing his vehicle to roll over. Woods treated for back pain by EMS. Damages: up to $5,000
Sunday, Feb. 2, 12:57 a.m. US 30 near Van Ness Road, Pierceton. Driver: Jeffrey M. Lewis, 20, Broad Street, South Whitley. Lewis lost control of his vehicle attempting to change lanes on U.S. 30. He overcorrected, slid off the roadway and rolled his vehicle into a ditch. No serious injuries reported. Damages: up to $2,500
Saturday, Feb.1 10:40 p.m. SR13 near East 500 South, Pierceton. Driver: Charles J. Clemans, 55, EMS B5A Lane, Leesburg. Clemans lost control of his vehicle on snow covered roadway. Glen’s Wrecker Service was able to tow the vehicle out, and Clemans drove it to a nearby gas station. Clemans contacted police to file a report for minor damages and some mechanical malfunction. However, when officers arrived to complete the reported, they determined Clemans had been drinking. Clemans was arrested for OWI. Damages: up to $1,000
Saturday, Feb. 1, 11:23 a.m. Winona Avenue near Zimmer Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Jacob S. Jennings. Jennings slid off the roadway and struck a REMC utility. Damages: up to $2,500
Saturday, Feb. 1, 10:26 a.m. U.S. 30 near 500 West, Warsaw. Driver: Camera L. Hyde, 24, Graceland Avenue, Claypool. Hyde lost control of the vehicle and slid into the median. Officers didn’t notice any damage on the vehicle, but driver and passengers were transported to KCH with complaints of pain. Damages: up to $2,500
Saturday, Feb. 1, 6:53 a.m. East 1300 North near North 175 East, Milford. Driver: Maria F. Gonzales, 22, Syracuse Street, Milford. Gonzales was trying to avoid a collision with the vehicle in front of her. She lost control of her vehicle, it rolled and struck a fence. Gonzales didn’t have a driver’s license and was cited for operating without a license. Damages: up to $5,000
Friday, Jan. 31, 11:45 p.m. U.S. 30 near SR 13, Pierceton. Drivers: Cheyenne L. Snyder, 18, Partridge Run, Woodburn; Maley P. Stewart, 17, 100 South, Larwill. Snyder was slid on snow-covered roadway and rear-ended Stewart. Damages: up to $2,500
Friday, Jan. 31, 2:01 a.m. Van Ness Road near US 30, Pierceton. Driver: Denis N. Morin, 53, Point West Drive, Fort Wayne. Driver struck deer. Damages: up to $5,000
Milford Police Department
Officers of the Milford Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Friday, Jan. 24, 9:06 p.m. Old SR 15 near 1150 North, Milford. Driver: Thomas Rodriguez, 21, Turkey Creek Drive, Milford. Rodriguez struck a snow drift and was pulled off the roadway where his vehicle struck a NIPSCO utility pole. Damages: up to $10,000
North Webster Police Department
Officers of the North Webster Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Saturday, Feb. 1, 1:01 p.m. Backwater Road near EMS W22 Lane, North Webster. Driver: Jason M. Blair, 38, Linlawn Drive, Wabash. Blair hit a patch of slush that pulled him off the roadway where he struck a NIPSCO pole. Damages: up to $5,000
Friday, Jan. 31, 10:10 p.m. SR 13 near East 500 North, North Webster. Drivers: Gordon K. Blair, 20, EMS B42C Lane, Leesburg; and Tamela M. Helfers, 48, Koher Road, Syracuse. Blair was approaching the intersection and applied his brakes to stop at the traffic light, but slid on icy road. He collided with Helfers in the intersection. Damages: up to $2,500
Syracuse Police Department
Officers of the Syracuse Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Sunday, Feb. 2. 4:23 a.m. Huntington Street near Pearl Street, Syracuse. Drivers: Leonard D. Kline, 65, Pickwick Drive, Syracuse; and Dennis G. Elliott, 51, 4th Street, New Paris. Kline was backing his vehicle from Pearl Street onto Huntington street. Elliott was southbound on Huntington street. He hit his brakes causing his vehicles to go sideways and strike Kline’s vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500
Saturday, Feb. 1, 12:41 p.m. Huntington Street near Harkless Drive, Syracuse. Drivers: Marion L. Lilly, 40, 650 North, Syracuse; and Lee R. Neher, 60, 550 West, Columbia City. Lilly’s vehicle fish-tailed and crossed over into oncoming traffic, sideswiping Neher’s vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500
Friday, Jan. 31, 6:04 p.m. Huntington Street near Main Street, Syracuse. Driver: Ashley L. Daniel, 27, Prairie Drive, Syracuse. Daniel slid on icy roadway and struck a parked car. Damages: up to $2,500
Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Sunday Feb. 2, 7:37 p.m. Center Street near Indiana Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Charles E. Leffel, 66, South Hill Drive, Silver Lake. Leffel clipped a large pile of snow in the center of the street with his driver’s side front bumper. Damages: up to $5,000
Saturday, Feb. 1, 8:10 a.m. Winona Avenue near Buffalo Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Sasikala Vemulapalli; and John R. King. Vemulapalli was attempting to turn right at a red light and struck King’s vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500
Friday, Jan. 31, 4:29 p.m. Cleveland Street near Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Robert D. Mevis, 54, 200 North, Warsaw; and Hector Castro-Vasquez, 51, Gettysburg Court, Warsaw. Mevis collided with Castro-Vasquez while attempting to back onto Cleveland Street. Damages: up to $2,500
Friday, Jan. 31, 7:36 a.m. Prairie Street near Indiana Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Hope A. Adams, 17, Superior Avenue, Warsaw; and Emma G. Lemon, 17, Country Club Drive, Warsaw. Adams rear-ended Lemon who was stopped in traffic. Damages: up to $10,000
Winona Lake Police Department
Officers of the Winona Lake Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Saturday, Feb. 2, 5:06 p.m. Seventh Street near Walnut Street, Winona Lake. Driver: Sean M. Smith, Chestnut Avenue, Winona Lake. Smith slid on a patch of ice and rear-ended a parked car. Damages: up to $2,500
Friday, Jan. 31, 7:49 a.m. Wooster Road near Grace Village Driver, Winona Lake. Drivers: Paige A. Whitby, 21, Stove Prairie Circle, Loveland Co.; and Christopher M. Isip, 43, Crooked Tree Drive, Columbia City. Whitby rear-ended Isip, who was stopped waiting to turn. During the investigation Isip complained of back pain, but EMS was not required. Damages: up to $2,500
