Betty L. Davidson
Betty L. Davidson, 78, of Elkhart, Ind., passed away at 10:34 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born Sept. 9, 1935, in Bluestone, W.V., to Carlton and Helen (Hubbard) Otey. On April 11, 1952, in Reidsville, N.C., she married William F. “Bill” Davidson Sr. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2008 in Elkhart.
Betty was a member of the Grace Bible Church and taught Sunday school at the church for over 40 years. She enjoyed reading, doing needlepoint and working in her flower garden. She was employed at Miles Labs for 16 years.
She is survived by five sons: Carl A. (Sandra) Davidson, Bristol, Ind.; William F. (Joe) Davidson Jr., G. Scott Davidson (sports editor for SPO), Cliff “Todd” (Jennifer Kuzma) Davidson and Anthony J. Davidson, all of Elkhart; three grandchildren: Trisha (Justin) Goss, Ryan Davidson and Jesse Davidson; and three sisters: Louise Windham, Knoxville, Tenn.; and Margaret Shrader and Ruth Ann Helms, both of Elliston, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister: Jean Musick; and two brothers: James and Robert Otey.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Elkhart, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Grace Bible Church, CR 5, Elkhart. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Pastor Mike Fisher will preside and burial will follow in Carlton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Feed the Children.
