UPDATE: Counties Declare Travel Emergency Levels
Marshall County was the first to implement an emergency declaration that included a “Warning Level” travel advisory due to the latest snow storm. the county has lifted the “Warning Level” and a “Watch Level” is now in place. This morning, Kosciusko, Whitley and Elkhart counties have increased their travel status to “Watch Level.”
Commissioners in Kosciusko, Elkhart and Whitley counties initially issued advisory as of late Tuesday night, meaning routine travel may be difficult or restricted and caution should be used. Today’s “Watch Level” status means conditions are threatening to the safety of the public and only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended. It is also recommended that emergency action plans be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies and other organizations.
Marshall County’s emergency declaration went into effect at 7 p.m. Tuesday in order to give citizens, schools, businesses and other organizations an opportunity to implement their emergency plans.
For your safety, counties are asking all citizens to comply with the necessary emergency measures, and to cooperate fully with public officials.
Please do not try to drive on roads that are drifted and impassable.
