Kathryn Bontrager Becker
Kathryn Bontrager Becker, 96, North Manchester, Ind., and formerly of Warsaw, Ind., and Silver Lake, Ind., died at 6:23 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Timbercrest Healthcare Center.
She was born Nov. 8, 1917, in Nappanee, Ind., to Edward Franklin and Viola Lucena (Mitchell) Gall. She graduated from Nappanee High School. Her senior photo caption was “A woman’s crowning glory is her hair”. On Sept. 28, 1935 she married G. Joseph Bontrager. He preceded her in death. She then married Paul Russell Becker on May 16, 1999. He preceded her in death.
Kathryn worked at Lake City Bank, Warsaw, Ind., for 15 years. She was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester, and a former member of West Eel River Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake, Ind.
She is survived by one son: Mark E. (Ruth) Bontrager, Fort Wayne, Ind.; three daughters: Brenda Jo Falconer, Rockford, Ill.; Deborah (James) Lotz, Warsaw; Victoria Kay Bontrager, Corpus Christi, Texas; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by one grandchild; two brothers; and one sister.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East St., North Manchester. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at the funeral chapel. Pastor Karen Eberly will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier, Ind. Arrangements are entrusted to McKee Mortuary, North Manchester.
