Lawmakers OK Guns On School Properties
A bill that would allow guns in school parking lots has been approved by the Indiana House of Representatives and now moves to the state Senate for a final vote.
The Indiana House of Representatives voted 74-24 on Monday to allow parents, teachers and other adults to carry firearms in their vehicles on school property. Students who are members of shooting clubs or similar organizations will also be allowed to keep firearms in their vehicles on school property with the school administration’s permission.
Indiana law still does not allow guns to be brought into school facilities and those individuals who violate that law face felony charges. The new provision does not change that law.
