Kosciusko 4-H Hosts Color Run March 15
Members of 4-H across Kosciusko County will participate in a color run in all of their green glory on March 15, to support our local 4-H programs and local food pantries.
The run will be a 1 mile fun color run/walk on Saturday, March 15, shoud weather permit. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Extension Office located at 202 W. Main St., in Warsaw. The walk begins at 9:15 a.m. Please bring a canned or non-perishable food item with you. Free t-shirts are available to the firstĀ 50 participants.
Color runs are races in which participants are sprinkled with biodegradable colored powder along the track, dying white clothing. The theme of the run will be “Color Me Green” to match the color of the 4-H emblem. Runners will be sprinkled only with green dye.
The run is purely for entertainment and will not be timed or have winners or prizes. On the day of the race, participants can share their experience on social media by using the hashtag of #colormegreen.
Steve McKinley, Purdue Extension 4-H specialist, said the color run is a response to the national 4-H healthy-living initiative promoting physical and mental health.
“The initiative is really trying to heighten awareness of the importance of physical activity and healthy eating at 4-H club meetings and events,” McKinley said. “The Color Me Green runs will be a fun way to promote this.”
If you would like to participate, please contact the Extension Office to RSVP at 574-372-2340 or email[email protected]. More information on the run can be found athttps://ag.purdue.edu/extension/Pages/colormegreen.aspx.
