Area Lady Cagers Receive IBCA Honors
INDIANAPOLIS – A plethora of players from the area have been chosen for the IBCA/Subway All-State Girls Basketball Teams for the 2013-14 season.
Named to the Senior All-State team were Morgan Olson of NorthWood, Ashley Campbell of Oregon-Davis and Caroline Buhr of Penn.
Olson, who will play at Youngstown State, led the Panthers to a Class 3-A sectional championship and finished her stellar career as the program’s all-time leading scorer.
Campbell led No. 1 Oregon-Davis to the Class 1-A state title this past Saturday. Buhr helped Penn claim a state runner-up finish in Class 4-A Saturday night.
Nikki Grose of Warsaw was chosen as one of a host of area seniors as honorable mention picks to the Senior All-State team. Grose, who will play at Indiana Tech, led the Tigers in scoring and rebounding her senior season.
Also selected as honorable mention choices were Cara Hoffman (Tippecanoe Valley), Jordan Hall (Whitko), Deja Felder (Goshen), Hannah Herbster (LaVille), Jenna Kieper (Fairfield), Alicia McIntosh (Oregon-Davis), Morgan Miller (Northridge), Khadijah Moore (Elkhart Memoirial), Taylor Parmley (Mishawaka), Breanne Paulik (Rochester), Kelsie Peterson (West Noble), Taloni Reese (South Bend Adams), Kayla Shaffer (Culver) and Emily Whiteleather (Columbia City).
A pair of promising freshmen were named honorable mention picks on the Underclass All-State team.
Tippecanoe Valley center Anne Secrest and Whitko guard Aly Reiff headline the list of local players tabbed to that team.
Triton standout guard Kylie Mason, a junior, was also named to the honorable mention selections.
Also honored were Jordyn Frantz (NorthWood), Camryn Buhr (Penn), Grace Hales (Westview), Alexa Holland (Rochester), Marie McCoy (Westview), Taylor Miller (Northridge), Lexi Minix (Oregon-Davis), Tiara Murphy (South Bend Washington), Madeline Raster (South Bend St. Joseph), Loren Vukovits (Glenn) and Michelle Weaver (South Bend St. Joseph).
