Evelyn ‘Thelma’ M. Scott
Evelyn “Thelma” M. Scott, 93, a lifelong resident of the Marshall and Kosciusko counties area, passed away at 7:55 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, in her Warsaw, Ind., home.
She was born May 29, 1920, to William and Goldie (Brooks) Brown at Silver Lake, Ind. She married Joseph W. Scott on June 12, 1953; he died Jan. 11, 2000.
Evelyn attended Atwood High School. She and her husband were both faithful members of the United Pentecostal Church of Bourbon.
Evelyn was a homemaker creating the best possible environment for her family. She worked in her early years as a nurse’s aide at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth, Ind., and at Murphy Hospital as a dietary aide.
She will always be remembered for her love of her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and reading anything she could, including her Bible. She also loved music, both Gospel and Country.
Surviving are her two daughters: Marilyn (Fred) Powell, Milford, Ind.; and Marvene Scott, Warsaw; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Joseph Scott; a son: Marvin Scott; her sister: Mary Jane Freeman; and four brothers: Bernard, Donald, Paul and Charles Brown.
Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 1,at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St. Bourbon, Ind. A celebration of Evelyn’s life will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastors Mark Cottrill and Matt Cottrill of the United Pentecostal Church officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery at Warsaw.
