Train Arrives At Milford’s Trupointe
Product has finally arrived via railway at the Trupointe Milford agronomy hub. The office is now open and area growers are invited to stop in and meet the team.
Trains began pulling in last week to deliver crop nutrients, ensuring Trupointe is ready to serve area growers when it’s time to take to the fields. A 65-unit train was unloaded March 24, with more deliveries scheduled next week. Crop protection products are also on site, via truck delivery. The Milford agronomy hub was designed for storage capacity, so product is readily available for growers when and where they need it.
A key asset of the Milford hub is the crossing of two main railway lines, CSX and Norfolk Southern, on site. This provides access to water ports and multiple modes of transportation for product, allowing for global opportunities and continued growth.
The on-site rail system includes a 9,800-foot rail loop to provide an efficient loading system. Trupointe team members certified in train operations and safety through the CSX Railroad Education and Development Institute, near Atlanta, Ga., oversee product delivery.
Open houses for the public and area growers will be held sometime this summer.
The full-service agronomy hub holds 2 million gallons of liquid fertilizer, 37,000 tons of dry fertilizer and 300 tons of anhydrous ammonia. Computerized load-out systems ensure efficient and accurate product mixing and loading every time. The dry fertilizer building includes two load-out bays with semi load times anticipated at seven minutes, while the liquid fertilizer building includes five load-out bays with semi load time set for 17 minutes. Certain products are available for loading 24/7 through an automated system.
