McBride Tabbed AP All-American
SOUTH BEND – Kayla McBride has added yet another honor to her lengthy list.
The Notre Dame star guard was named a first-team All-American by the Associated Press on Tuesday.
McBride, a senior from Erie, Pa., has helped the No. 2 Irish post a 36-0 mark and reach the Final Four for the fourth straight season.
McBride, a tri-captain, is the second-leading scorer for the Irish at 17.2 points-per-game to with 5.2 rebounds per contest.
McBride was also named the ACC Player of the Year, as well as an All-American by the USBWA. She was also named to the Notre Dame All-Regional team Monday night after the host Irish beat No. 5 Baylor.
Notre Dame sophomore guard Jewell Loyd was a second-team selection. Senior Natalie Achonwa was a third-team pick.
The first team also includes Chiney Ogwumike of Stanford, Odyssey Sims of Baylor, Breanna Stewart of UConn and Alyssa Thomas of Maryland.
The second team features UConn teammates Bria Hartley and Stefanie Dolson, Shoni Schimmel of Louisville and Jordan Hooper of Nebraska.
The third team picks are Maggie Lucas of Penn State, Tricia Liston and Elizabeth Williams of Duke and Tiffany Mitchell of South Carolina.
Votin for the AP All-American teams was done prior to the NCAA Tournament.
