APC Approves Plat During Brief Meeting
During an unusually short meeting lasting barely 10 minutes, Kosciusko County Area Planning Commission approved a final plat during its regular monthly meeting April 2 in Warsaw.
Edward and Deborah Boyts are having an accessory building built on property located off 8 Square Road, just north of Chapman Lake in Plain Township. The property abuts an existing county maintained road.
Attorney Richard Helm represented the Boyts. There was no discussion among APC members about the plat and there were no remonstrators for or against it. The one lot plat is known as Boyts Barn.
There were no other items listed on the agenda, but there was a brief discussion about a proposed amendment to the county ordinance governing communications towers. Presently the ordinance requires six miles between towers, but Dan Richard, area planning director, said after researching other county ordinances it was determined two miles seems to be a better fit.
He noted not many new towers are being placed in the county now, but rather companies are requesting bundling with existing towers. The APC gave approval for Richard to proceed with the steps necessary for an ordinance amendment, including eventually a public hearing.
APC meetings are held at 1 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month in the commissioners room of the county courthouse. Meetings are open to the public.
