Diversity Rally Promotes Tolerance, Acceptance
A group of Kosciusko County residents are hosting a diversity rally from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26. The event will take place at the Fountain Plaza at Warsaw’s Central Park.
“Our goal with this event is to provide a forum for local community members to talk about the importance of valuing diversity in our community,” according to rally organizing team member Brenda Rigdon.
The team of community members have recruited eight speakers and three musicians. They hope to help communicate the different experiences people in the community dealing with bullying and harassment, and how tolerance and acceptance can help to make Warsaw and Kosciusko County a more welcoming place to live, work and play. Speakers at the event include: Marlene Mulero-Betances, Brenda Rigdon, Mike Lewis, Penny Brown, Bill Warren, Aimee Platz, Max Vosler, Erin Korreck and Carolina Daffre.
The speakers will begin at Fountain Plaza at 11 a.m. At noon, the group will take a walk through downtown Warsaw and invite the entire community to embrace diversity.
The public is encouraged to attend and learn what to do at home, school, in the workplace and in faith communities to create an environment that accepts and values all people.
