HUNTINGTON – A number of athletes from the Grace College track and field team notched personal-best results in a strong showing by the Lancers at the Huntington Invitational.

The Lancers won four events and placed in the top three in several others on a brisk Saturday.

“It was great to have some decent weather and finally get a chance to see where we are,” said Grace head coach Jeff Raymond. “I think the hard work we have been putting in was evident for many people today. We will keep moving forward and hopefully keep improving in the coming weeks.”

Lance Taylor and Donovan Graham each won two events on the men’s side. Taylor won the 400-meter race in 49.65, Graham won the 800 in 1:57.14. The pair bookended the 4×400 relay team with Taylor leading off and Graham passing two runners in the final leg to finish in first place. Matt Lee and KeJuan Leek joined Taylor and Graham on the winning 4×400 relay team.

Jo Boren won first place in the 400 with a personal-record time of 1:00.04. Boren also had a PR in the 200 with a fourth-place finish of 26.83.

Micah Pollard had an inspirational return to the track to finish second in the 100 (12.69) and third in the 300 (26.02). Pollard was running in her first collegiate meet after battling back from three knee surgeries.

Katelyn McCullough competed well in the 400 hurdles and 100 hurdles, taking second place and fourth respectively. McCullough joined Alicia Hertzler, Erin Jones and Jo Boren for second place in the 4×400 relay. Hertzler also posted her fastest time in the 400 (1:04.14) for fourth place.

Erin McPherson met the NCCAA qualifying standard in the shot put with a mark of 36-feet-5.5, and Sabrina Whitaker was third in the high jump at 4-11.75.

On the men’s side, Drew Perrin was third in the long jump and triple jump, and Jonathan Rex placed fourth in the 1500 with an NCCAA-qualifying time of 4:07.90.
