BZA Approves Louis Dreyfus Petition
Among the agenda items considered by the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals during its regular monthly meeting Tuesday in Warsaw was a petition by Louis Dreyfus Commodities. The biodiesel fuel maker requested an exception to allow three storage tanks to remain without permits and allow future expansions and additions as may be needed and indicated on plans.
Louis Dreyfus is located just off SR 15 in Claypool near the Norfolk Southern Railroad line. The petition was approved by the BZA. Matt Sandy, assistant planning director for the county, noted a 10 year plan was presented taking into consideration what the company’s financial status could be in the future.
Other agenda items included:
- A variance was granted to William and Cynthia Rheinhardt to allow two residences to remain on one tract, allow the garage to remain 8.4 feet from the side property line (permit issued at 10 feet), but a shed must be moved to 10 feet from the side line, not remain at 4 feet. As a condition to approval, the garage can’t be rented out separately. The property is on EMS D13 Lane at Dewart Lake in Van Buren Township.
- Mark Ivaska was granted an exception to allow service repair in addition to what was already approved on SR 15, north of Levi Lee Road in Plain Township.
- The petition for Charles and Jill Baker to permit construction of an in-ground swimming pool on EMS T5A Lane in Tippecanoe Township was continued until the May meeting to allow BZA members to look at the property.
- The petition for Robert Dellen, remanded from Kosciusko County Superior Court, to permit the construction of a residence addition, a screened porch, was continued to the May meeting to allow BZA members to look at the property on Ogden Point Road, southeast of Bishop Road in Turkey Creek Township.
