Jennings Paces Triton Triumph
WINAMAC – The Triton softball team opened its season in impressive fashion Tuesday night.
Mallorie Jennings made sure of that for the Trojans.
The Triton ace fired a no-hitter in the circle as the Trojans trounced host Winamac 18-0 in five innings.
Senior star Jennings, who led the Trojans to a sectional title in 2013, notched 12 strikeouts and walked three in the dominating win.
Jennings also did her fair share at the dish by going 4-4 to lead a 19-hit attack for the Trojans. She drove in three runs for the winners, who scored four runs in the first inning and four more in the second frame to take control.
Allyson Brown had a huge game at the plate with three hits, including a homer, and five RBI. Hannah Jennings also had three hits with a homer and three RBI.
Megan Berger also got into the home run routine for the Trojans with a roundtripper too. Krystal Sellers and Lillie Berger each had two hits, while Zoee Stephan smacked a triple and Lexee Lemler scored three runs for Triton.
Triton returns to action by hosting Argos Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. in Bourbon.
