Plymouth’s Mercer An All-Star
INDIANAPOLIS – Plymouth standout Mack Mercer has been named to the Indiana All-Star team.
Mercer, a 6-9 forward for the Pilgrims, averaged 17.1 points-per-game this season. He has signed to play at Belmont University.
Headlining the All-Star squad is Mr. Basketball Trey Lyles. The 6-10 forward from Indianapolis Tech led his team to a 27-2 mark and the Class 4-A state championship.
Lyles, who will play at Kentucky, averaged 23.7 points and 12.9 rebounds his senior season. Lyles, who has been named a McDonald’s All-American and to the Parade All-American team, won the Mr. Basketball voting with 117 votes. Trevon Bluiett of Park Tudor was second with 108 votes and James Blackmon Jr. of Marion was third with 95.
Bluiett, a 6-6 guard/forward, led the state in scoring at 36.2 ppg. He led his Park Tudor team to the Class 2-A state title, beating Westview in the championship contest, and has signed to play at Xavier. Blackmon Jr., a 6-3 guard and Indiana recruit, averaged 33.2 ppg.
David Benter of Brownstown Central will coach the All-Star team.
The All-Stars will play two exhibition games versus the Junior All-Stars on June 9 at Logansport and June 11 at Columbus North. The team will then play Kentucky in the annual series on June 13 in Lexington and June 14 in Indianapolis.
