‘Down The Country Line’ Bands Selected By Fans
FORT WAYNE – The Embassy Theatre’s Down the Country Line 3, presented by Sweetwater and Sweetwater Studios, will spotlight five local bands that were suggested by listeners of K105 Radio.
In early March, K105 launched a social media campaign asking their listeners to suggest their local favorite country band that they would like to see perform on the Embassy stage. Those suggestions were reviewed by the Embassy Theatre and narrowed down to five bands that will perform in Down the Country Line 3 on Saturday, May 17. The bands are: John Curran and Renegade, Reckon, Cheyenne, Blue Bird Revival and the Marshall Law Band.
Down the Country Line is the country-version of the Down the Line series which also includes a hard rock and classic rock version. The event offers a great night of country music, a great opportunity for local country acts to play the historic stage and a fundraising opportunity for the Embassy Theatre.
John Curran and Renegade will rock the Embassy stage with the music of Luke Bryan. Reckon will cover Jason Aldean, and Blue Bird Revival will feature their female vocalist performing the best of Miranda Lambert. Traditional country music will also be a part of the concert with the Marshall Law Band covering Waylon Jennings and Cheyenne playing the best of Brooks and Dunn.
Tickets for this all-ages show are currently on sale at the Embassy Theatre box office, all other Ticketmaster locations. Ticket prices are $10 in advance and $12 the week of the show.
This year, the evening will continue long after the concert ends with a special after-concert party at the Rusty Spur. A Down the Country Line 3 ticket stub will gain you free admittance and several of the bands will be in attendance at the Rusty Spur located at 10350 Leo Rd.
Sweetwater and the Sweetwater Academy of Music and Technology will once again sponsor Down the Country Line at the Embassy. Folks from the Sweetwater retail store and the Sweetwater Academy will be on hand throughout the evening to share their love of music and to show their support for the Embassy, as well as live music performance in the Fort Wayne area. Sweetwater has become one of nation’s leading music retailers, and their passionate support for music is evidenced by their sponsorship of events such as Down the Country Line.
“Down the Line has become an important and valued showcase for local musical talent,” said Christopher Guerin, Sweetwater V.P. of Corporate Communications. “Sweetwater and the Sweetwater Academy of Music and Technology are delighted to once again be the title sponsor for the Down the Country Line concert in May. Sweetwater and the Embassy Theatre have had a long and fruitful partnership, and our involvement in this event demonstrates our ongoing and unwavering support.”
About the Bands
- John Curran and Renegade has been one of the most popular bands in the area for the past 15 years. John has been playing guitar since he was a child and in high school, he knew that performing would be a part of his future. Renegade is very excited to cover the music of one of the most popular country artists today, Luke Bryan, voted country music entertainer of the year in 2013. Bryan jumped into the Nashville scene writing songs for Travis Tritt and Billy Currington and in 2007 decided to write for himself. Four albums and several number-one hits later, Luke Bryan found out he could write hit songs for himself. Luke most recently co-hosted the Academy of County Music Awards (ACM) on CBS with Blake Shelton.
- Cheyenne has been in existence since 1995 and combined the band members have 138 years of stage experience. Cheyenne will be covering the music of legendary Brooks and Dunn. Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn are the best-selling duo in country music history. Before retiring in 2010, the duo sold more than 30 million albums and won more than 80 industry awards, including 2 Grammy awards, 20 Country Music Association trophies and 27 Academy of Country Music honors, making them the most-awarded act in ACM history. Cheyenne is honored to perform the music of Brooks and Dunn at Down the Country Line 3.
- Reckon has opened for Thompson Square, Tyler Farr and most recently Chase Rice. The band started in Churubusco and several have been friends since first grade. They are excited to take on the music of Jason Aldean who was just named the ACM Male Vocalist of the Year. Since 2005, Jason has released 5 albums and 16 singles. Eleven of those 16 singles reached number one. The hardest part for Reckon will be narrowing down which of Aldean’s hits to play on the Embassy Stage.
- Marshall Law Band, led by Roger Marshall, has been performing professionally for over 30 years. Growing up in a musical family, Roger inherited a love and talent for all kinds of music, especially country, rock, and bluegrass. Roger spent several years in Nashville during his musical career. The Marshall Law Band will perform music from the outlaw himself, Waylon Jennings. Jennings got his start playing with Buddy Holly in the mid-1950s. Jennings gave up his seat on the ill-fated flight that took the life of Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens, among others. Marshall Law Band will do justice to the music of Waylon Jennings.
- Blue Bird Revival is a unique band from northeast Indiana. Their debut self-titled album is already getting airplay all over the world and is available on iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, Spotify and others. They will cover the 2014 ACM Female Vocalist of the Year winner, Miranda Lambert. Lambert first gained fame as a finalist on the 2003 season of Nashville Star, where she finished in third place. Miranda is getting ready to release her fifth studio album in June, is happily married to country music star Blake Shelton and will tour in the fall in support of her latest release.
