S. Nadine Bowman
S. Nadine Bowman, 90, North Manchester, Ind., passed away at 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester, Ind.
She was born Nov. 10, 1923, in Mountain Grove, Mo., to LeRoy and Phoebe Kathleen (Davis) Brown. She graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1942. On June 21, 1944, she married Paul S. Bowman. He preceded her in death.
Nadine was employed by Manchester College as manager of The Oakes from 1944-1946 and with food service from 1949-1962. She was then employed with Manchester Community Schools as a cook at the Manchester Junior High School from 1962 until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester, IN and BPW (Business and Professional Women). She was active in Manchester Church of the Brethren, teaching children’s Sunday School for many years and was active helping with church dinners.
She is survived by two sons: Dale Bowman, Erwin, Tenn.; Ned Bowman, North Manchester; two brothers: Jerry (Joy) Brown, Lees Summit, Mo.; Jim (Verle) Brown, Columbia, Mo.; two sisters: Mary Earlyne Lovelady, Pittsburg, Mo.; Carol Ackerman, Sarasota, Fla.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. May 18, 2014, in Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East St., North Manchester. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. May 18, at the funeral chapel. Pastor Karen Eberly will officiate.
