LIGONIER- A slow start and missed opportunities cost the Whitko baseball team Monday night.
The Wildcats spotted host West Noble a big lead and could not recover in dropping a 12-11 final.
West Noble scored all 12 of its runs in the first four innings in building a 12-6 lead on the Wildcats. Whitko rallied back before coming up just short in the end.
The Wildcats used five pitchers in the game with Garrett Smiley taking the loss.
Ethan Nicodemus went 3-3 with a home run and three RBI to pace the offense for Whitko. Smiley slugged a home run and drove in five runs, while Avery Robbins had two hits with a triple and three RBI.
Whitko, now 8-2, hosts Peru tonight at 5:30.
