Valley Softball Squad Loses In Final
WABASH – The Tippecanoe Valley softball team went 1-1 Saturday in the Wabash Invitational.
The Vikings opened play by beating Fort Wayne Wayne 19-0.
Kassidy Shepherd fired a one-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks in the circle for the Vikings.
Lauren Early had two hits, four RBI and three runs scored in the win. Abby Betten had three hits and three RBI, while Shepherd had two hits with three RBI and three runs scored and Robyn Dunnuck added two hits and two RBI.
Fort Wayne Canterbury rallied to beat the Vikings 9-6 in the championship game.
The Vikings led 6-0 in the title game. Valley committed seven errors in the loss.
Early and Betten each had two hits and Tenaya Shull two RBI for the Vikings. Katie Gunter recorded five strikeouts in two innings of relief.
Valley, now 5-4, hosts Pioneer Tuesday and plays at Northfield Wednesday.
