Tigers Clip Concord On Diamond
DUNLAP – The Warsaw baseball team started strong in posting a win at Concord Friday.
The Tigers scored three times in their first at bat en route to downing the Minutemen 7-1.
Kevin Hawley pitched a strong complete game as the Tigers won the Northern Lakes Conference contest. Hawley went the distance, allowing just five hits. He struck out three and walked two in improving his mark to 4-1 on the hill.
Dean Katris homered and had two hits for the Tigers.
Brandon Shipp had another productive day at the plate for coach Mike Hepler’s team. He had two doubles and drove in three runs for the winners.
Justin Oberlin had two hits for the winners.
Warsaw improves to 8-4 overall and goes to 5-1 in the NLC. The Tigers host Valparaiso Saturday for a twin bill starting at 11 a.m.
Concord outscored Warsaw 12-10 in the junior varsity game Friday.
Braxton Tennant led Warrsaw with three hits. Isaac Lennon took the pitching loss for the JV Tigers, who are now 5-6 overall and 2-4 in the NLC.
The Warsaw JV will also host Valparaiso Saturday at 11 a.m.
