Warsaw Golfers Go 1-1
WARSAW – The Warsaw boys golf team opened the dual match portion of its season with a close one Thursday.
The Tigers, ranked No. 17, were edged by Columbia City 157-158 on a dark and dreary day at the Stonehenge Golf Club. Huntington North shot 176 in the non-conference triangular match.
The varsity match saw each team have six players compete with the top four scores counting in the team totals.
The host Tigers were led by the trio of Will Petro, Reid Cameron and Ryan Cultice. All three finished with a nine-hole total of 39 for coach Ben Barkey’s squad.
Brandon Eckert shot a 41, Jonny Hollar came in with a 42 and Josh Ahlersmeyer also a 42 for the Tigers.
The Warsaw junior varsity team shot 188, while Huntington North had 210 and Columbia City 253.
Jacob Foster led the Tiger JV team with a 43. Michael Jensen shot a 46, while Robbie Sullivan had a 48 and Luke Johnson a 51.
Warsaw will take part Saturday in the Wawasee Invitational at South Shore in Syracuse.
