WCS Names Hoffert New Superintendent
The Warsaw Community Schools Board of Trustee announced today that David Hoffert will be named Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1. He will replace Dr. Craig Hintz, who is retiring as of June 30.
Mr. Hoffert possesses broad educational experience as a teacher, coach and administrator. He currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer (2011-current) in the Warsaw Community Schools. Prior to his current position, he served as the principal of Northfield Jr./Sr. High (2009- 2011) in Wabash, Indiana, and as a history teacher and boys track coach at Warsaw Community High School (2002-2009).
Mr. Hoffert graduated from Warsaw Community High School and received his undergraduate degree in secondary education from Anderson University, Masters Degree from Olivet Nazarene University, Principal Licensure from Indiana Wesleyan University, and Education Specialist degree from Indiana State University. He is presently completing coursework toward his doctoral degree at Indiana State University, and anticipates earning his Ph.D. in educational leadership in 2014.
Mr. Hoffert stated, “It is a privilege and honor to be appointed Superintendent of Schools in my hometown. As a Warsaw Community High School graduate, Warsaw Community School educator and father of children within the corporation, it is a dream come true to serve the students and families our community.”
Hoffert went on to say, “I am extremely thankful to the Warsaw Board of School Trustees for their faith in my ability to lead the corporation as it continues to pursue the objectives set forth in the corporation’s strategic plan. Dr. Craig Hintz has provided stability of leadership and vision during the past five years as superintendent. As I commence the transition into the superintendent’s position, it is evident that Warsaw Community Schools is blessed to have a strong foundation of dedicated board members, teachers, administrators, support staff, parents, community stakeholders and students. I look forward to working in collaboration with these groups to positively impact all students in the corporation.”
To assist the WCS board in the search process, it contracted with B.W.P. and Associates, a nationally recognized recruiting firm possessing extensive experience in superintendent searches. In consultation with B.W.P., the Board established a tentative timeline to accomplish the search and a thorough vetting process that included compilation of information from all our stakeholders; providing the community with an opportunity to provide input in the process; preparing and analyzing the data from an online survey; and, interaction with targeted focus groups.
Ron Barnes, Director, B.W.P., stated, “David Hoffert has excellent qualifications for the superintendent position, and he certainly is within the top 3% of candidates that our firm interviewed with respect to his qualifications for the position.”
Jennifer Tandy, WCS Board president stated, “The Board is certain in our choice of Mr. Hoffert, and confident that under his leadership Warsaw Community Schools will continue to be recognized as among one of the leading transformational school systems in the state. By working through a professional search firm, we were able to confirm that Mr. Hoffert is the right candidate for our school system, and with their assistance we were able to assemble and consider the valuable input from community stakeholders, teachers, and administrators and support staff.”
Mr. Hoffert resides in Warsaw with his wife Rachael (Education Professor at Grace College) and three children (Ryun, Robinson, and Roosevelt), two of which came to be part of the Hoffert family by means of adoption from Ethiopia. Away from the schools, David enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, running, and researching history.
