Children’s Book Week
The children’s department has open crafts all week to highlight the importance of books in the lives of children. Children’s Book Week is celebrating its 95th anniversary. Children’s book Week is celebrating its 95th anniversary. Book week is a literacy initiative with the motto, “cover to cover, coast to coast.”
Book Clubs
One book, One Hour, the adult book club, is meeting to discuss The Last Town on Earth, by Thomas Mullen. The discussion begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, in the meeting room.
Have picnic party fun at the monthly Children’s Book Club that will meet, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 13. Children from kindergarten to fifth grade are welcome to join an evening of reading, games and snacks. Information is available at the library. Please call 574-457-3022.
May 16
Stop by the Syracuse library while touring Cruise-In. The library has a table and chairs for relaxing and eating, or for some geocaching information to look at. Teens and their families are invited to a laser show that is sponsored by Wawasee PTOs, schools and libraries, and the public libraries. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a spectacular light show set to music. The free, family evening starts at 5 p.m. uptown in Syracuse and ends at the Wawasee High School Gymnasium.
String Theory Tackles a Sticky Project
String Theory is using duct tape to make reusable bags and other items. Provide your own capri sun containers or other used plastics. The group meets from 11 p.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17, and as always, will share knitting and crocheting projects too. Children are welcome when accompanied with an adult.
