Warsaw JV Tennis Team Takes Title
WARSAW – The duo of Mattie Doran and Shelby Roberts each captured individual titles Saturday to lead the Warsaw junior varsity girls tennis team to a championship.
The host Tigers edged past Plymouth 22-21 to win the JV Invitational.
Doran won the title at No. 1 singles play for the Tigers. Roberts picked up the top finish at No. 3 singles for Warsaw.
Sydney Hartman of Warsaw earned a second-place finish at No. 2 singles.
The Warsaw No. 2 doubles team of Jenn Katris and Greer Smith also placed second.
The team of Rosie Fleming and Mallory Bartel placed fifth at No. 1 doubles for the Tigers.
NorthWood was third in the tourney with 19 points. Concord was fourth with 10, followed by Northridge (8), Elkhart Memorial (7), Goshen (5) and Wawasee (3).
Leading the Warriors were Marte Tveraa (No. 1) and Kayla Hershberger (No. 3) with seventh-place finishes in singles action. The No. 2 doubles team of Madison Cooper and Paige Miller also placed seventh for Wawasee.
