Warsaw Tennis Team Tops Goshen
WARSAW – The Warsaw girls tennis team closed out regular-season conference play on a high noted Monday night.
The host Tigers edged past Goshen 3-2 in the final Northern Lakes Conference match of the season.
The duo of Sarah Boyle and Rachel Alexander each posted singles wins for the Tigers.
Boyle rolled to a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles for Warsaw. Alexander notched a 7-5, 6-0 victory at No. 3 for the hosts.
The No. 2 doubles team of Abbi Baum and Athena Schlitt won 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 for Warsaw.
Jacqueline Sasso lost in three sets at No. 1 singles for the Tigers. The No. 1 doubles team of Anna Hall and Camille Kerlin lost in straight sets.
Warsaw improves to 5-8 overall and finishes 2-5 in the NLC. Goshen drops to 10-6 overall and concludes NLC play at 4-3.
The Tigers will host the first round of the NLC Tournament on Wednesday. The NLC tourney then continues on Thursday at Concord with the final round back at Warsaw on Friday.
The Warsaw junior varsity beat Goshen 10-4.
Winning for the Warsaw JV in singles play were Rosie Fleming, Sydney Hartman, Shelby Roberts and Danielle Straits. Capturing victories in doubles matches were the teams of Mattie Doran and Mallory Bartel, Jenn Katris and Greer Smith, Sydney Peugh and Bonnie Wong, Abby Smith and Sherry Wong, Brooklyn Rummer and Madison Mutchler and Chelsey Farling and Courtney Thompson.
