Warsaw Golfers Win Pair
WINONA LAKE – The Warsaw boys golf team responded with a bounce back performance Thursday night.
The Tigers got a strong effort from their No. 4 and 5 players in the lineup to collect a pair of conference wins.
The duo of Ryan Cultice and Reid Cameron led the way as host Warsaw defeated Plymouth and Elkhart Memorial in Northern Lakes Conference action.
Warsaw, coming off a tough loss to conference foe and rival Wawasee on Tuesday night, shot 167 as a team at the Stonehenge Golf Club for the wins.
Plymouth came in at 170 for the NLC triangular, while the Crimson Chargers shot 173.
Senior Cultice paced coach Ben Barkey’s team with a 40 for the winners. Cameron was next for the Tigers with a 41.
Warsaw improves to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in league play on the season with the two victories on Senior Night.
The trio of Jonny Hollar, Will Petro and Brandon Eckert, the top three players in the lineup, each shot a 43 for the Tigers.
Warsaw had shot 160 on Tuesday, led by an outstanding 33 by Hollar. The Tigers lost to the Warriors on the fifth-man tiebreaker score in that match.
Warsaw will play in the Culver Academies Invitational Saturday at Mystic Hills. The Tigers then face Goshen and Concord on Tuesday at Maplecrest in Goshen in league play and conclude the conference regular season on Thursday versus Northridge and NorthWood at Meadow Valley in Middlebury.
The NLC Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, May 24 at Christiana Creek in Elkhart.
