Triton Doubles Duo Wins NSC Title
NEW CARLISLE – The doubles duo of Holly Stogsdill and Carrie Slabaugh earned a conference championship Saturday.
The Triton No. 1 team rallied in their title match on the final day of the Northern State Conference Tournament held at New Prairie High School.
Stogsdill and Slabaugh rallied to beat the Bremen team 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the finale.
The Trojans captured third place in the final team standings with 34 points.
Bremen won the NSC team title with 51 points. New Prairie was second with 39, followed by Triton (34), Knox (19), LaVille (18), Jimtown (16) and John Glenn (4).
The Trojans also had a pair of runner-up finishes in singles play for coach Al Peckham.
Kaelyn Mason was second in No. 1 singles for Triton. She lost in straight sets in the finals to Bremen.
Kylie Mason earned a second place finish at No. 3 singles. She beat New Prairie and then lost in three sets to Bremen in the finals.
Shayla May placed fourth at No. 2 singles for Triton. She lost to both Bremen and Knox in straight sets on Saturday.
Triton’s No. 2 doubles team of Cassie Irons and Michal Scherer-Berry finished in seventh place.
