OrthoPediatrics To Double Employment In Warsaw
Nick Deeter’s vision in 2007 was to start a new orthopedic company that focused on a challenging and forgotten part of the market: children. With strong management and financial backing, OrthoPediatrics has become the leading children’s orthopedic company in the world, and it is located in Warsaw.
These successes resulted in a recently announced $37 million investment by the company’s equity partner, Squadron Capital LLC.
The equity infusion will allow the company to support its global expansion in 28 countries outside the USA. It will also fund production of the company’s two newest products introduced this year: the Response Spine System and the Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction System. These two products diversify OrthoPediatrics from trauma and deformity into the pediatric scoliosis and sports medicine markets.
This expansion will also allow the company to double its employment in Warsaw from 45 employees last year to 90 employees by the end of 2014.
The company subcontracts out its manufacturing and, over the past several years, it has been moving production back to Warsaw-based vendors, thus further increasing its economic impact on the local economy.
According to CEO Mark Throdahl, being located in the Orthopedic Capital of the World allows OrthoPediatrics to attract the high quality orthopedic industry employees needed to grow and expand. According to Throdahl, the goal is to “build an enduring orthopedic company by surrounding pediatric orthopedists with all the surgical systems they need.”
“KEDCo applauds the company’s continued growth and its positive impact on the local economy,” noted Jim Tinkey, chair of KEDCO’s Business Expansion and Retention Committee.
