Sylvia A. Baker
Sylvia A. Baker, 75, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at 7:20 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at I.U. Goshen Hospital in Goshen, Ind.
She was born on Dec. 25, 1938, in Gary, Ind., to John L. and Edna F. (Wolf) Hart.
She lived most of her life in the Syracuse area after coming here as a child from Hobart, Ind. She graduated in 1958 from Syracuse High School and on May 28, 1988, in Wadsworth, Ohio, she married Curtis E. Baker, who preceded her in death
She retired in 1995 from Goshen Rubber Company after over 34 years of service. She was a member of the Richville United Methodist Church in Ligonier, Ind.,; American Legion Post 223 Auxiliary and Eagles Lodge both of Syracuse and a life member of the D.A.V. in Goshen, Ind.
She is survived by a brother: Jack (Phyllis) Hart, Millersburg, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister: Gloria Eyer; and a nephew: Todd Eyer.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, in the funeral home with Pastor Stan Owen of the Syracuse Church of God officiating. Private family burial will take place at the Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier.
