Triton Tennis Team Moving On
BREMEN – The Triton girls tennis team earned a spot in the sectional finals after cruising to a semifinal win Thursday.
The Trojans lost a total 11 games on the five courts in blanking John Glenn 5-0 in a sectional semifinal at Bremen.
Triton will play host Bremen Friday at 4:30 p.m. for the sectional title and a berth in the Culver Academies Regional on May 27. The host Lions defeated LaVille Thursday after knocking off 13-time defending champion Plymouth on Wednesday.
The singles duo of Kaelyn Mason and Kylie Mason led the way to the win for Triton Thursday. Kaelyn Mason won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Kylie Mason won -0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
Shayla May posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles for the Trojans.
Triton won both doubles matches as Holly Stogsdill and Carrie Slabaugh won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1. The tandem of Michal Scherer-Berry and Cassie Irons won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2.
Triton, coached by Al Peckham, will take an 11-3 mark into Friday’s sectional finale.
The Trojans last sectional title came in 2004. Bremen last won a sectional championship in 2000.
