Warsaw Rallies To Softball Victory
ELKHART – A huge rally in their final at-bat earned the Warsaw softball team a victory Thursday night.
The Tigers plated nine runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally past host Elkhart Memorial 11-5.
Warsaw trailed 5-2 in the Northern Lakes Conference finale before coming up with the win.
The trio of Ashley Ousley, Karly Jones and Alexa Glass each had three hits to lead the Tigers.
Whitney Sleeth picked up the pitching win as Warsaw improved to 7-16 overall and finished at 6-8 in NLC play.
The Tigers, who beat Memorial 8-6 in their first meeting this season, also turned a triple play in the third inning.
Memorial won the junior varsity game 10-6. Taylor Sleeth had two hits for the JV Tigers, who are 7-16 overall and 4-9 in the NLC.
Warsaw plays at Tippecanoe Valley today at 5 p.m. The Tigers then host South Bend St. Joseph on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.
Warsaw will play Concord on Monday in the Class 4-A Elkhart Central Sectional at 2 p.m.
