Warsaw Rugby Teams Victorious
FISHERS – The Warsaw Area Rugby Clubs will get to play for a pair of state championships come next weekend.
Both the boys and girls teams posted wins Saturday in the state semifinals of the Division II Tournament.
The boys squad blasted Angola by a 43-0 count and the girls beat Penn 23-17.
The boys team, which is now 9-1 on the season, has advanced further in the tournament than ever before.
The girls team, which won a state title in 2005, improved to 8-0 on the season.
The Warsaw Area Rugby Clubs are made up of players from Warsaw, Plymouth and Whitko.
The boys coach is Mark Caruso and the girls team is coached by Trevor Cracknell.
The Warsaw boys team is ranked No. 1 in the state in Division II. The undefeated girls team is the top-ranked team in Division I.
The state championships will be contested next Saturday (May 31) at the Moose Rugby Grounds in Elkhart. The Moose is located on CR 6, across the street from the Elkhart Airport.
