Trojans Move Into Sectional Final
BOURBON – The Triton softball team will get to play for another sectional championship.
The host Trojans opened postseason play Monday by blanking Bethany Christian 4-0 in their own Class 1-A Sectional.
Triton, which won the program’s second-ever sectional title in 2013, will meet Hamilton Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in the championship contest.
Hamilton defeated Elkhart Christian Academy 11-3 in the other game of the four-team sectional Monday.
Senior Mallorie Jennings turned in another outstanding pitching performance to lead Triton to the sectional win at Keyser Field. The Manchester College bound ace fired a one-hitter. She had seven strikeouts and four walks in the complete game win.
Mallorie Jennings also made sure to help her own cause with a big game at the dish. She had a double and a triple and drove in a pair of runs in the win.
The Trojans took the lead in the first inning on an RBI single off the bat of Krystal Sellers.
Lexee Lemler and Sellers each had two hits and an RBI for the Trojans. Hannah Jennings had two hits, including a double, in the win.
