Wildcats Outscore Bruins
GOSHEN – The Whitko baseball team closed out regular-season play Monday with a win at Bethany Christian.
The Wildcats outscored the host Bruins by a 13-9 count in the finale.
Whitko scored six runs in the top of the first inning to take command. Bethany rallied to take an 8-6 lead before the Wildcats scored three runs in the fifth frame and four more in the sixth inning for the win.
Riley Anderson pitched the final 4 1/3 innings in relief to get the win for the Wildcats. He also was 2-4 at the plate with two runs scored and a pair of stolen bases.
Ethan Nicodemus was 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Tanner Gaff had a double for the winners.
Whitko, 19-9, will face Lakeland Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the Class 3-A Whitko Sectional.
