Who Wants To Pay More Taxes?
Who wants to pay more taxes?! (silence.) Ok, more taxes for everyone! That was last night’s Times Union lead story. It wasn’t worded that way, it said “there were no public comments” and so the County Commissioners increased your property taxes to the maximum rate to generate money for road repairs and “general purposes….”
Did you know the County Commissioners and County Council can raise your taxes? Do you even know the men taking more and more money out of your wallet? I didn’t. I found out last week when I went to the County Council meeting and was shocked. The Council President, Robert Sanders, criticized Jon Fussle for voting no on another tax for road repairs. He did this in front of the public, during and after the meeting
President Sanders, your behavior was rude and unprofessional and Mr. Fussle deserves a public apology from you.
I want to thank Mr. Fussle for voting no on this wheel tax that would cost every vehicle owner $25 more per vehicle, $40 for larger vehicles. You should call him (574-904-1256) and thank him too.
This Thursday the County Council will be voting on the wheel tax again. I, for one, will be there to comment. Please join me at 7pm at the Kosciusko County Courthouse. In the meantime, call the council members and tell them to vote no on the wheel tax.
