According to Tarrh, in April he was contacted by both the Fulton Town Board president and the Fulton town clerk with allegations that Coleman had been submitting hours for compensation that he never actually worked.
The investigation revealed that over the last five years, Coleman, who at the time of the investigation was also the Rochester Police Chief, had collected in excess of $6,700 through fraudulent activity. Since the investigation was made public, Coleman also resigned his position with the Rochester Police Department.
Coleman turned himself in at the Fulton County Jail at approximately 5 p.m. Wednesday and has since bonded out. He has been charged by Special Prosecutor Bruce Embrey from Miami County with the a single Class C felony count of official misconduct and six Class D felony counts of theft.
