In the days following his tragic death, good samaritans throughout the community bounded together to raise money for a memorial fund for the young boy who “knew how to make everyone smile.” Through the generous donations of 30 individuals, a total of $1,775 has been raised so far to assist the Spore family with Skyler’s funeral arrangements. Funds are being raised via a GoFundMe.com account with a goal of $5,000 set.
“During this tragedy, we are asking for donations for the Spore family,” explains Brittany Bushong, creator of the GoFundMe.com page where donations are being collected. “The family of 12-year-old Skyler Spore is heartbroken after his unexpected death.”
According to Bushong, a memorial dance for Skyler Spore will be held for middle-school aged children from Wawasee and Milford middle schools at Lakeland Youth Center in Syracuse from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 18. An entrance fee of $7 will be collected and donated for funeral and burial costs.
Bushong also noted those wanting to drop off additional donations are able to do so at Babes & Combs hair salon in Syracuse.
