UPDATE: Grass Fire Spreads To Barn
UPDATE: According to Atwood Fire Department Chief Mike Harmon, the call that was originally dispatched as an out of control brush fire was actually a controlled burned that spread to other structures on the property.
Harmon said that the homeowner at 3565 N. 200 W had alerted the fire department that he would be attempting a controlled burn of a small shed on his property. After the fire was lit, the blaze spread to a nearby barn-like structure.
Atwood Fire Department responded quickly, and damage was minimal. Harmon said it burned some of the paint and scorched some of the boards on the other building. No injuries were reported.
Atwood Fire Department had been called to a grass fire that spread and caught a barn on fire.
According to firefighters on scene, the fire began as a small controlled burn and spread to the barn. The fire was quickly brought under control by firefighters of the AFD. Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department are also on scene at 3565 N. 200 W.
