Free Bowhunter Education Course August 2
ROCHESTER – TimberWolf Trading Post is proud to host the International Bowhunter Education Program (IBEP), also commonly known as “Today’s Bowhunter” course.
This complimentary one-day course will be held 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at TimberWolf Trading Post’s facility at 1297 W. 18th Street in Rochester.
Though Indiana does not require the certification to participate in bowhunting state-wide, it is mandatory to bowhunt in 13 other states, numerous Canadian provinces and other countries, as well as in many other special circumstances in states where it is not mandatory (e.g. urban bowhunts, special use areas and federal lands).
The program reviews important laws and regulations, game identification and safe, responsible handling of archery equipment. The course also teaches students distance estimation, shot placement, survival information and much more.
“Though it isn’t required here, the bowhunter education course will help archers be smarter, safer and, ultimately, better hunters,” says owner W. Clifford “Cliff” St.Martin. “We are excited to be able to provide that service to our community.”
Stephen Spencer, National Bowhunter Education Foundation (NBEF) Program Chairman for Indiana since 2006, will be the instructor for the course. Spencer has been teaching bowhunter education since 2003 and is a volunteer Hunter Education Instructor for Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Spencer has also been teaching 4-H archery for more than 10 years and has volunteered with the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP).
Students are not required to bring their bows to the session. Participants will take the certification test at the end of the session. Those who pass will receive their IBEP
certificate. Lunch will be provided by TimberWolf Trading Post.
Participants will also be entered into a drawing sponsored by TimberWolf Trading Post. The grand prize winner will receive a Tree Spider Harness. Advanced registration is required.
