Finale Picnic
This week is our Summer Reading Program Finale Picnic! Every Summer Reading Program participant who has read at least five hours has earned a ticket to the picnic. On July 30 at 12 p.m., grab your ticket, a beach towel, sunscreen, and a chair to sit on the beach. We will serve food under the pavilion and draw for some great prizes. Ronald McDonald will make an appearance at 12:30 p.m. Come join us this week as we celebrate another successful summer. The last day to turn in hours is this Monday, August 4 by 8 p.m. Keep Reading.
Family Storytime
Join us again this week for our last summer story time on Friday, August 1 at 11 a.m. Guest storyteller, Tina Meerzo Ervin, will have wonderful stories about Senses and Perception. Listen to My Five Senses by Aliki and other stories about the senses. After Tina reads, join her in making a craft and enjoy a snack. Don’t forget that each family earns a free book to take home and add to their library! See you on Friday, August 1, for stories, snack, and a craft.
Teen Ice Cream Sundae Party
Teens, join us on August 4 at 12 p.m. in the meeting room for the Make Your Own Sundae Party. You must have read 50+ hours to be able to attend. You should have been given a ticket when you reached the 50 hour goal. Come make sundaes and participate in drawings for prizes. We still have lots of great prizes to give away! Come and celebrate the end of the summer reading club and your reading hour accomplishments! Last year everyone went home with a prize. We hope to see you there!
Resources for you!
Our first priority is serving our community. We have so many resources available to our service area, we want to encourage you to take advantage of what is offered. Children love to use Dial-A-Story. By calling (574) 658-9540, children can listen to a story over the phone. The story is changed weekly, so there is always something new to listen to!
One of the many free services offered by the Library is Freegal. All patrons can use this service. Freegal gives our patrons access to free music and music video downloads weekly. Do you use iTunes? Freegal is very similar, but the library has paid for the songs or videos you download. There are thousands of tunes to choose from. From John Legend and Johnny Cash to Johann Sebastian Bach, you can browse through all the artists or look for a specific song. If you have a Milford library card and internet access, then you can use Freegal! The patrons who already receive their weekly downloads highly recommend using this FREE service! Stop by or call in to ask us for more information.
In addition to those resources, we are constantly adding new links to our site for your use. Check out our catalog page and services page on our website to view the links! Our website is www.milford.lib.in.us.
