South Shuts Down North
INDIANAPOLIS – The South continued its recent winning ways Friday night in the Grange Insurance All-Star high school football game.
The South defense shut down the North in posting a 30-2 win in the annual contest held at North Central High School.
Christian Perry, a graduate of Southport High School, rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown to lead the winners and earn game MVP honors.
The South out gained the North 387-87 in total yards to win for the fourth straight year.
The North team included former Warsaw standout Gabe Furnivall.
The North roster also featured receiver Adam Glanders and defensive tackle Mike McQueen of Concord, center Cody Spurgeon of Jimtown and linebacker Aaron Hancock of Penn.
Tim Dawson, the longtime coach at Concord, was the head coach for the North squad. On the North coaching staff was Concord assistant coach Sam Vaughan.
Linebacker Tyler Katschke, who played at Winamac High School, had eight tackles and was the Player of the Game for the North team.
The South now leads the all-time series 27-21.
