Man Arrested For 22 Sex Crime Charges
Wanted for six counts of rape, six counts of sexual abuse and 10 counts of sodomy, a Kentucky fugitive was apprehended in Noble County Tuesday night.
Sylvester R. Slone, 43, has the numerous felony charges against him in Kentucky. Indiana State Police, Noble County Sheriff’s Department deputies and officers of the Kendallville Police Department worked together to located Slone after receiving tips to his whereabouts.
According to ISP Trooper Justin Snyder, at approximately 7 p.m. Tuesday, he received information from the Noble County Sheriff’s Department that Slone was at an address on Mapes Road, just outside of Kendallville. While following up on that information, he was given updated information that Slone was at a residence in the 1900 block of Bodenhafer Drive, on the east side of Kendallville.
According to a press release, as Trooper Snyder and Trooper Lesley Fox arrived at the address, they saw that a man fitting Slone’s description was in the backyard being confronted by officers from the Kendallville Police Department.
Slone, who was ordered to the ground by Trooper Snyder, complied and was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to, and is currently incarcerated in, the Noble County Jail.
Slone is charged with 22 first-degree sex crimes in Knott County, Ky.
Police say the public is credited for offering numerous tips to the NCSD which were instrumental in Slone’s arrest.
The public is credited with placing numerous phone calls to the Noble County Sheriff Department providing valuable information which led to Slone’s arrest. Agencies assisting in this arrest were the Indiana Governor’s Office, the Office of the Indiana Attorney General, the Kentucky Governor’s Office, the Noble County Sheriff Department, and the Kendallville Police Department.
