Jimmies Tab Moore As Hoops Coach
ELKHART – Marcus Moore has landed his first basketball head coaching position.
Moore, a former standout at Grace College, was approved Monday night as the new boys basketball coach at Jimtown High School.
Moore was an assistant coach at Huntington North High School this past season. He is the second leading scorer in Grace College history with 2,351 points. Marcus, along with his twin brother Scott, helped the Lancers go 26-10 and reach the Elite Eight of the NAIA Division II National Tournament as seniors in 2007-08. Scott is currently an assistant coach at Grace.
Moore also previously served as an assistant coach at his alma mater of Columbia City High School. He helped the Eagles reach the Class 4-A state championship game in 2004, where they lost to Greg Oden and his Lawrence North squad.
Moore becomes the fourth Jimtown coach in the last five seasons. Ron Dietz guided the Jimmies to back-to-back 7-14 seasons the last two years. Dietz retired from coaching in June to accept a position in South Carolina.
Moore’s brother Matt was named the new boys basketball coach at Kokomo High School six weeks ago.
