#NameTheLancer: Help Grace Name Its New Mascot!
WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The Grace College Athletic Department is set to unveil a brand-new Lancer mascot this fall, and we are calling on Lancer Nation to help us name him! Grace alumni, students, faculty and fans are needed to name the newest member of the Lancers.
Grace’s athletic teams will always be the Lancers, and the new knight-styled mascot will embody the enormous school spirit and Lancer pride of our fans. The mascot’s aim is to enhance game-day atmosphere and provide a visual connection for students, parents, fans and the community.
From now until August 7, the department will accept nominations to name the Lancer mascot who will patrol the sidelines at Grace’s varsity games during the 2014-15 season. On August 8, the finalists for the mascot’s name will be revealed, and a vote will be cast by Lancer Nation through August 20 to determine a winning name.
The knight-styled mascot will be seen in public for the first time on August 21 at the student chapel service at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center. The mascot will be knighted and the name announced in a ceremony for the ages.
TO NOMINATE: Use the hashtag #NameTheLancer on twitter or respond to Grace’s Facebook post with a comment. August 7 is the deadline to submit nominations.
TO VOTE ON FINALISTS: Use the online poll, which will contain the pool of finalists starting on August 8. Votes will be collected on the poll until August 20.
THE ANNOUNCEMENT: “The Knighting of the Mascot” ceremony will be held at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center on August 21 as part of the Grace College chapel service that morning.
